There are 6 commandments of servants:
1. Obey your masters. Today we would say, be faithful employees.
2. Be conscientious in service.
3. Pay no attention to the eyes.
4. Do the Will of God from your heart.
5. Joyfully serve men as you would the Lord.
6. Recognize that if man does not reward you adequately, God will be.
This is the will of God, if you are called and chosen. There is no way to mock the Will of God for the service that we must render to the Lord. Many people who work in ministry forget that they are servants before anything else. A minister is a servant. One should think of it this way; as servants of Christ and administrators of the mysteries of God. Now, what is sought in stewards is that one be found faithful. (1 Corinthians 4: 1, 2 NET) When we are called for the first time, we are ordained, we do our first opening sermon, everything related to servitude is thrown out the window.
We started looking for a pulpit. We make our own ministry cards. We are so easily offended when our titles don’t call us. Prayer is the first call. However, as the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each one, so they must live. I give this kind of direction in all the churches. (1 Corinthians 7:17 NET) I thank God that I am learning every day. It was difficult to receive, but I had to humble myself and learn. I had to learn that it was not about being seen, heard or a title. When we are not ready to sit down and learn, we are not ready for ministry.
The Bible says: Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart, and you will find
Rest for your souls. (Matthew 11:29 NET) It’s easier this way. We do not call ourselves. Well, some of us didn’t! Let both grow together until harvest; and in harvest time I will say to the reapers: First gather the tares, and tie them in bundles to burn; but gather the wheat in my barn. (Matthew 13:30 KJV) What is the Lord saying in this verse? Let them grow together, in the end they will separate. A servant has its benefits. You can be silent! It’s in the back, behind the scenes, where you can watch and pray. It’s in the back, behind the scenes, where you have the honor of asking you to come closer and you sit among the master. Let us be a healthy growing body, Spirit and truth.
