Fight jet lag

One of the joys of living is traveling. In addition to taking a break from the daily routine, there is also the excitement of visiting other places and seeing their attractions (natural and man-made), meeting new people, and enjoying the variety and diversity of our world that God created. Even if we spend a good part of our savings on it, the experience can never be quantified monetarily.

Traveling to a different country that is hundreds of miles away means being in a different time zone. And we all know the effect of changing time zones while traveling: jet lag. Although some people who fly regularly no longer succumb to its effects, there are still some of us who can’t shake it off easily, so it ends up ruining at least the first few hours of our stay in a different time zone.

Here are ways on how to combat jet lag so that every trip you have to another country is maximized time-wise:

Take a break before departure – This advice may sound too simple, but it is one of the keys to surviving a time zone change. The night before your departure, make sure you get a good night’s sleep. Do not club or drink alcohol as it will become a travel disaster once you land in your destination country. A well-rested body recovers better from the effects of jet lag.

hydrate – Dry environments at higher altitudes can cause dehydration. This requires you to replenish your body’s water supply. And instead of asking the flight attendant for juice or soda, ask for plain water. As for alcohol, it can only dehydrate you more. A dehydrated body can delay your recovery from jet lag.

sleeping during the flight – Unless there are certain factors that prevent you from sleeping inside the plane during a flight, such as rowdy children (yours or someone else’s) or you can’t stop reading a very interesting book, make sure you find time to sleep, especially during flights long distance Cabin seats are generally uncomfortable, so you may want to bring a travel pillow or headrest.

Avoid so-called jet lag pills – There is no silver bullet that can combat the effects of jet lag. If you’ve taken a pill that’s supposed to combat jet lag and you think it worked for you, it might just have been a placebo effect. However, ask your doctor for certain pills that can at least help you cope with the ‘hangover’ from the flight.

Here are some of the simplest yet most effective ways you can combat jet lag so you can quickly recover and enjoy your time in another country from the moment you land there.
