2010 Camaro Performance Tokens

The performance chip or tuner is a way of reprogramming the internal computer inside a vehicle. Most vehicles have the ability to use one of these chips or tuners, and 2010 Camaros are no exception to this. One may ask the question, is there a large selection to choose from or is one of those things that one option is all that is available? The answer to that question is yes, there are many different options, and with all the different options come different benefits that meet the needs of each individual. Today we will only cover three of the many options, but most of them will be very similar in performance and increase in efficiency.

The first one we will cover is the Diablo Sport Predator. The Diablo Sport name was founded in 2000 and has continued to be a leader in the performance tuner and chip industry ever since. Diablo Sport has claimed a performance increase of more than 20 horsepower and more than 20 foot-pounds of torque on the new 2010 Camaro L99 with automatic transmission and they even do slightly better on the LS3 engine with manual transmission. They will increase the LS3 by about 25 on both. With 1-3 mpg gains in fuel efficiency, as long as you’re not racing around town. Diablo Sport installation will only take about 10 minutes with an on-screen display practically guiding you through the installation. They do not void any warranties that may be available from Chevrolet, and they come with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty of their own.

If you want or need to restore the original programming it is as easy as installing the reprogrammed one. Just follow the exact same steps and choose your stock settings. There’s also another fancy little feature of the diablosport predator on the 2010 Camaros with the L99 automatic. When you put the car in cruise control, it turns off four of the cylinders for better gas mileage. The only problem with that is that the car no longer sounds the same. With the devil, you can disable that feature, making it work with all 8 cylinders all the time.

The second tuner on the agenda is the Hypertech Max Energy for the 2010 Camaro. The Max Energy power controller draws as much power as possible. With this nifty little tuner you have the power to increase horsepower and torque, improve fuel consumption, increase maximum speed limiter, increase rev limiter “RPM”, recalibrate speedometer, read and display and erase DTC.

They can be updated online with the included USB and are legal in all 50 states. In most cases, 12 horsepower and 20 ft-lbs of torque are common, giving the Camaro a better response time to traffic. Like the Diablo Sport, you can expect a fuel efficiency of 1-3 mpg. Also, this product does not void the factory warranty with a 1-year self-warranty. They include two performance tunes for 91-octane or 93-octane fuel. Although hypertech puts out a good product, most people go the devil’s way because the features are almost identical, but the devil’s power gains are greater.

Today’s third and final is the Jet Performance 2010 Camaro Performance Chip. Jet Performance has been doing what it does for over 40 years. They are committed to giving the consumer what they really want … more power. Jet Performance programming is designed to burn fuel with maximum efficiency, which translates to better performance and mileage.

Jet Performance boasts of its gains for the Camaro of more than 15 horsepower. Fuel and timing curves are modified for optimal performance and mileage using less expensive and lower octane fuels. Like the other two, you have the possibility of up to 3 additional miles per gallon, it will require a bit of discipline on the part of the driver, keep your foot off the ground. Installing it is easy, in less than 10 minutes of installing the chip and ready to play. They also offer their one year warranty against defects. They have two different versions of the chip available. There is a stage one chip, which is designed for the original 2010 camaros. They also have a two stage, which is designed for modified 2010 camaros, which have other soft bolts like a cold air intake, headers, exhaust, or others. The great thing about tuners is that they work on original or modified engines, but if you know what you need, jet chips are a great way to go too.

Tuning is the easiest of the aftermarket updates for 2010 Camaros, and the good thing is that they work in conjunction with whatever other parts you add to deliver even greater gains. So if you have a tuner that gives 20 hp and an air intake that gives 20 hp, you will get over 40 using both items, because they work together. This makes the performance market even more fun once you dig deeper.
