SEO Article – The 500 Vs 1000 Word Count Debate

With my experience in the industry of creating content and providing SEO articles, people have asked me several times what word count works best for writing articles. Is it really 500 words or 1000? My opinion on that..? It depends on what you will use it for.

For the purposes of this article, I will cite the key points that make each word effective or better in its own right.

The 500 word count argument:

easily absorbed

It is true that a 500-word SEO article looks much more attractive to read than a 1000-word one. With the technological advances that this age brings, people are used to “easy gratification.” With that said, a 500-word SEO article gives them exactly that. A thousand word SEO article in this case can translate into more reading and more focus. If you know your readers are looking for easy gratification, then you know the 500-word article is what they’re looking for.

easier to produce

If you write your own publication, you should already know that writing an article of about a thousand words is comparatively more tiring than writing an article of 500 words. In terms of effort, time, money and (mental) fatigue, the 500-word article is definitely perfect!

The 1000 word count argument:

Integral

The 1000-word article makes it longer and more complete (provided it is written correctly). You probably already know that providing complete information to your site visitors is very important if you want to give them value. That said, 1,000-word articles usually get the job done in terms of providing comprehensive information to readers.

Higher probability of syndication

I have confirmed it myself. Of all the articles we have published on article directory sites, articles of 1000 words or more (ideally 1000 – 1300 words) are generally distributed. Now we all know that syndicated articles in most cases equate to more traffic. More than that, it gives us the opportunity to establish a connection with the person who distributed our article.

These points are what make these 2 words count better in their own right. It’s not to say that one is better than the other, it just goes to show that depending on what your goal is in your article writing campaign, choosing a 500-word article vs. a 1,000 word can have its advantages.
