Are you a Go-Getter or Quiet-Plodder?

There has always been a marked difference between the hustler (GG) and the silent worker (QP). The obvious story, of course, is the fable of the hare and the tortoise.

but which one are you

Since your entire strategy for business and business success revolves around accepting your own personality and the way you approach everyday life, it would be wise to find out what your traits are so that you can make use of your best features. and change or mask your less attractive side.

Let’s look at the Go-Getter first.

Generally extroverted, the entrepreneur travels through life at breakneck speed, trying to brush aside all obstacles along the way.

Now, whether those obstacles are people or not doesn’t matter. For the true entrepreneur, nothing but nothing should stand in the way of progressing to the top of the pile.

In school, the ambitious was always the volunteer to do the important jobs. GG wouldn’t even think that someone else would want a chance. era of gg Correct to get all the important monitor positions in every class in the whole school.

Then later in life, GG is the one who tries so hard to become the president of the society or club. GG wants to decide what happens.

Then later in the world of work, it’s the ruthless GG who tends to get all the breaks. He works hard to get to the top. And he mainly gets it, it must be said, because GG gives 100% of everything he hires. However, is the GM happy in that position, knowing that it was ruthlessness that won him the top spot? Probably not. Will the GG stay on top? Again, probably not.

So what about the Quiet Plodder?

Obviously one of life’s backstage people, the silent worker allows someone else, in fact anyone else, to steal the spotlight.

It’s not that QP isn’t interested in success. No, it’s just that QP looks for and gets the less glamorous approach to life. Much more comfortable as the brains behind the operation, instead of being the favorite with blood and guts. QP derives satisfaction from knowing that the job was successful as a result of QP’s input.

QP, the producer of unassuming ideas, often relies on GG’s penchant for being the center of attention to hide under a ‘Bushel’. However, secretly, QP would like to be in first place, but he is too shy to do anything about it. But when the GG falls from power, people often turn to the compromised candidate, the QP. Is the QP happy in that position? Probably not, as it is uncertain that QP would be in the top spot if someone else had been available.

Now, of course, no one is completely one or the other of these characters. But many people show a marked tendency towards one or the other.

Why is it important then to recognize what traits of these characters you possess? And how can you solve this?

First, the importance of finding or recognizing your character traits.

Before you thought about these things, you probably went through your life not knowing why different people reacted to you in different ways.

Of course, you would realize that you always made friends with a certain ‘type’ of person.

Either you were the one everyone greeted right away, or you were the one who sneaked into the group or the conversation and people were always surprised when they realized you were there.

But once you’ve figured out what your character is like, you can use it to your best advantage.

If you’re a GG, then you can tone it down or reign in your natural enthusiasm, so that you don’t leave people upset because you haven’t given them a chance to speak or do something.

In business, this can mean listening more carefully to the opinions of others, especially partners and customers. You will be pleasantly surprised what you learn!

And the upside to this is that people will be more willing to give you the benefit of the doubt when the inevitable mistakes are made, and they’ll be more willing to lend you a hand. So that when you reach a high position, you enjoy it more and stay in that position for much longer.

If you are a QP, things are a bit more difficult. It means forcing yourself out of your comfort zone.

You should try to make your views known more. Go out of your way to get into a conversation. And you’ll be pleasantly surprised when you find that once they realize you’ve got some big points to make, people will actually listen to you more.

The surprising thing is that the advantage for you is exactly the same as for the GG!

And so, to the all-important question of how to recognize how much of each of these characteristics you possess.

Well, this is where again, everyone is equal. Or at least they can all use the same methods.

(1) First of all, you must make a conscious effort to try to see yourself as others see you. Put yourself in the place of those with whom you come into contact.

How would you react to what you say and do?

Compare this to how your friends and colleagues react.

(2) When you relax at home in the evening, try to review the events of the day and remember how you behaved in various situations. Take notes and then, after a while, compare similar events. Take note of any patterns in their behavior.

(3) Then try to anticipate any situations that are similar to those you have observed before. Change your habitual behavior and observe the reactions of your colleagues and friends. At night, write down your findings. After a while compare all your findings.

(4) Continue your observations until you have covered all the different situations in which you interact with others.

(5) Then you need to put all your findings together. At the top of one side of a sheet of paper write Go-Getter and at the top of the other side write Quiet Plodder. Then, using all the information you have collected, write down his behavior during the last few months on the appropriate side.

This will show you which characteristic, GG or QP, you tend to. If you have the same number of entries on each side of your sheet of paper, then you need to see the importance, as you see it, of the information you have written on each side and give each section a weight. You should be able to calculate your answer from the totals for each side.

Then it’s up to you to make the best use of the information you’ve found!
