church clothes for ladies

The Catholic religion is the largest in the world and maintains its presence in many countries throughout the globe. Since going to church is an obligation for all Catholics since time immemorial, wearing a different attire is also part of the Catholic religion.

Men and women originally wore suits and ties and dressed very formally. Women also wrapped a scarf around their heads in respect to the almighty. But as times have changed and people have become more modern, going to mass is still a formal occasion. One can dress in semi-formal attire but not totally casual.

High mass on an auspicious occasion like Easter or Christmas will always see the church go in their best attire. Ladies think months in advance of their main day outfit and seamstresses are loaded with work these seasons. Without prejudice to the fact that even men look their best for the main parties. New materials are sourced along with new patterns because everyone wants to look their best when they walk into church to praise the Lord.

In England, discerning church-going women often have their church outfits custom-made. It can be a suit made up of a skirt or blouse with a jacket or simply the skirt and a jacket. A hat is usually given to complete the look and also block the sun’s rays. This style of dress has trickled down to most of the world where women dress up in tailored suits.

However, the younger generation prefers to look stylish yet modern. Then they don something more dressy like formal trousers, complete with a formal top and a pearl necklace to go with it. Or long blouses over tight pants, flowing skirts and blouses or long floral dresses. The variety is huge as today’s fashions have spilled over into all categories offering stunning designs and patterns.
