Cafe World is another typical restaurant themed game where you as a player run a restaurant business with your trusted friends and make it a successful and number 1 restaurant in the world (Facebook anyway). This Zynga-developed game has some similar themes to Playfish Restaurant City and a few twists of its own.

As the name describes it, Cafe World is all about restaurant and cafeteria and as the player you are in charge of running it as you see fit. We start the game with the usual boy or girl gender customization screen. From there, Amelia, the cafe world instructor, will walk you through how the game works and what needs to be done to get your cafe running. Cafe World is very straightforward and easy for everyone to follow.

Those who play Restaurant City may feel a little out of place playing Cafe World for the first few minutes. Instead of the usual upgrade dishes, this game has no such options. Instead, the game allows you to prepare your own dishes yourself. For you, the player himself is your own boss and also the chef in your own Cafe.

The idea sounds a bit interesting for those who want to get a bit of realism into their gameplay, but once you level up a bit more it can be a little challenging just clicking all 16 stoves in your kitchen repeatedly trying to get your dishes. cook.

Alright, we look at the cooking part. You as a chef will have your trusty recipe book with you and inside the book you will have some recipes unlocked during the start of the game. From there, you choose the easiest and cheapest feed you can produce. From there, you will continue to prepare your ingredients until your food is cooked on the stove. Some foods take a few minutes to cook, while others, depending on the quantity and cost of production, can take hours or days to prepare. This game targets those who want to sit in front of the game for hours or just a few minutes.

The best part of this game is that if you are the type who hates waiting for your food to cook, then all you have to do is collect food from your friends who have posted on their wall. This can save a lot of time if you are running out of food to serve your customer or if you need money fast (will be explained in the Tutorial)

Once you have prepared your food, you can serve it to the guest. This is where your friends come in. At Cafe World, you don’t really have to go find your waiter/waitress. All you have to do is click on your friends list and choose who you want to work for you. Mainly, there are quite limited things you can do with your friends, since all they do is serve the food to the customer. You can’t even customize their clothes. I find this quite limiting as I want my friends to look their best instead of wearing a simple waiter costume. However, he sometimes finds some of his waiter or waitress outfits a bit strange, as this is how his owner personalizes them and he cannot change them.

Now we also look at your Cafe. The game is very easy to get around and usually everything is automated. All you have to do is get your workers, prepare your food and the necessary furniture to serve the food.

Shops and inventory in Cafe World allow players to customize how their Cafe works and how to make it work the way they want. From the tables to the chairs and from the wall decorations to the floor that customers walk on, everything can be customized just the way you see fit. However, there are bit limitations in the game engine. I realize that after changing the floor tiles, selling the items still in your inventory is quite difficult. I can only sell one item at a time! It can be quite troublesome since I have more than 30 tiles to sell and I have to do it 30 times to get the stock out of my inventory.

However, I like the upload feature in Cafe World. It used to take more than 5 minutes to load the game last time as it needs to load all the sprites and textures. Now the game loads faster, but in 3 phases. First the game will load the engineer; once you are in the game the game will load the rest of the textures and layout. This reduces the loading time. I really appreciate how the developers manage to do that.

Once you spend some time playing this game, there are other features in the game that will keep the player busy. Things like getting a special seasoning, helping friends with their mini quest, or building a special stove that allows you to cook food faster.

The game is very beautiful, mixing 3D and 2D together. Its character models are 3D animated and the texture is well done. The furniture and decorations have also been done very carefully as they look very detailed even when zoomed in (especially the food). Movement and animation are pretty fluid, but sometimes you’ll notice dishes flying off the counter and onto the table. This is somehow a small bug that I notice very little.

Sound
Cafe World has nice and very nice music. I couldn’t comment much on the sound system as it’s just like any other simulator game that has the same old sound running on a loop.

Conclusion
I’d rather enjoy playing this game as it’s a taste change compared to Restaurant City, however due to the slight gameplay changes it takes some getting used to. However, it is a game worth investing your time in.
