Getting back on the diet track after the Thanksgiving indulgence

A few days of eating a Thanksgiving feast and all your leftovers could leave you struggling to get into your pants as you prepare to head back to work. Green tea has been shown in studies to speed up metabolism, giving it a double whammy on those killer calories.

After you’ve had that hearty breakfast with a big glass of water, make a plan to help yourself get back on track at the gym or in the winter air. We can all agree with the holiday gathering and the goodies don’t end with Thanksgiving. It’s better to have a way of attacking the dishes by looking at you just wanting you to indulge. A little indulgence is always fine, but without a plan, you may find yourself devouring the entire plate of cookies. Most gyms are packed with people after New Years who have failed and just want to lose that weight. The best feeling might be that you’re way ahead of those people, both literally on the treadmill and figuratively in the healthy world.

A friendly game of football, basketball, or soccer can help get your engine going. Shopping from the crowd for those perfect gifts will also help your body get going. Anything that gets your heart rate skyrocketing will help bring it back to normal. Over the Thanksgiving holiday, you may have been in the recliner enjoying football on TV. Now it’s time to throw the couch potato to the ground and start getting active. Decorating your house for the holidays will not only bring out your inner child, but you’ll also burn calories on the run.

As holiday gathering invitations begin to cover your fridge, get ready for the food and fun of it all. You don’t have to eat all the food at the meeting. You can nibble on some treats and get on with the social aspect of it all. If you’re having a big meal again, wait a bit for dessert and you might not even be as hungry as you thought. Those pants will fit you well and you’ll start to fulfill the traditional New Year’s resolution to stay healthy.
