You know you’re going somewhere special when your resort has its own airport lounge. The Laguna Phuket Airport Hospitality Center at Phuket Airport is available for resort guests to relax after or before their flight. And staff are available to help with arrival and departure inquiries.
Phuket Lagoon is located on the sandy Bangtao Beach, about 30 minutes south of Phuket International Airport. The beach stretches about 8 km, bordering the Andaman Sea, on the west coast of Phuket, Thailand.
Today, Laguna Phuket is probably Asia’s premier tourist resort, but when I first saw the area in 1982, it was nothing more than a wasteland.
The dramatic transformation was brought about by the visionary chairman of Singapore’s Wah Chang Group. Next to the complex is the 18-hole course Laguna Phuket Golf Club This par 71 course makes good use of the rolling landscape and lagoons. All Laguna Phuket guests can enjoy reduced green fees.
Each of the hotels has a spa. and by all accounts, the Banyan Tree Phuket Spa is probably the best. When it comes to awards, I tend to be a bit cynical, but there must be some substance when a hotel, like this one, is voted the world’s best spa resort by readers of Condé Nast Traveler, the best spa experience and withdrawal by Arts & Entertainment Television. Networks, USA and one of Travel & Leisure magazine’s Top 10 Spa Hotels. The spa offers a wide range of treatments, from body scrubs to facials, manicures, and pedicures. There are also free yoga classes (paid for visitors).
The Banyan Tree Phuket even has a dedicated Spa Pool Villa that features a “floating bed” pavilion with king-size bed, a swimming pool in landscaped gardens, an outdoor sunken tub, Jacuzzi, steam room and sauna, massage pavilion and an outdoor Thai Lounge.
However, I must say that if a spa is important to you, the facilities of the other hotels cannot be ruled out, especially since they come from the same pedigree. At Dusit Laguna, Laguna Beach Resort Phuket and Sheraton Grande Laguna you will find an Angsana Spa.
Angsana Spas were developed by Banyan Tree Spa and place special emphasis on the use of aromatherapy. They also offer body scrubs, skin treatments, facials, and a variety of massages including Thai, Swedish, Hawaiian, Balinese, Indian head, and warm oil massages.
