Physical attributes of the boxer dog

The Boxer belongs to the working dog breed and was developed from the larger mastiff type of dog used in Germany for hunting. It developed primarily as a large dog that was fast enough to keep pace with a horse during pursuit, but muscular enough to grab large prey such as wild boar or even deer. In its native Germany, the Boxer grows to about 25 inches or 65 cm tall, which is the average height for all Boxers, but can weigh over 40 kg or 90 lbs.

His entire body is geared towards hunting. It has a compact body shape and in profile appears to be taller than it is long. This impression is increased by the docking of the tail. The trimming of the years is just to give it that alert and fierce look because otherwise the Boxer tends to have a very gentle appearance.

The body is quite muscular, although its musculature is not as defined as that of a mastiff. The coat is short with close and dense hair. As for the coloration, it comes in only two colors, fawn and brindle, although due to the great variation in tones, it can be from a deep intense red to a much more subdued color. There may also be white, but this is mostly found on the underside of the dog, although this is not always the case. The usual target location is the feet and belly, and sometimes the legs.

For such a large dog, the Boxer is incredibly fast, and is in fact one of the fastest dog breeds out there. If it were a race, the Greyhound would obviously be first, but the Boxer would come in a credible third place.

The Boxer’s head is the animal’s most striking feature. The head is large and sits on a large, powerful neck. The snout is very short and has a slightly underbite, which means that the lower jaw protrudes slightly more than the upper jaw.

The nose has a bellicose aspect, although not as pronounced as the bulldog. Although many people say that the muzzle makes the dog prone to nasal infections in bad weather, there is really nothing wrong with it except that it tends to snore a little.

The Boxer was developed as a hunting dog, but unlike other hunting breeds, it was very close to its family. This makes the boxer very affectionate, one of the reasons why he is so popular with people even today.
