Sanitation and cleaning of the bounce house

Bouncers can be a breeding ground for bacteria. Whether you’re renting a jumper, owning your moon bouncer, or running an inflatable rental company, make sure the unit is kept sanitized and clean. If you are renting, it is up to the rental company to take the necessary steps to ensure that the rental equipment is sanitized and clean. Whether you own your jump castle for personal use or as a business, below are the steps we use to clean our inflatables.

Step 1

Inflate the bounce castle. Once inflated, go inside and remove any loose debris. After removing the debris, we sweep the unit, including the pillars and the netting.

Step 2

Once the inflatable is free of debris and dirt, we begin the sanitizing process. We lit up with a product that many schools use to clean their gymnastics and wrestling mats. It’s called Matt-Kleen and you can buy it in a gallon strength for around $55. This is very powerful and can be diluted to make around 60 gallons. Once we mixed our formula, we sprayed the inside and outside of the moon jumpers, the pillars, and the inflatable floor. Simply wipe clean with a dry cloth.

That’s all you have to do. For a commercial bounce house, 13′ x 13′ or 15′ x 15′, it might take about 15 minutes. As a rental business, you need to make your business stand out from the competition. The bounce houses you rent are your business card and the best way to gain both repeat business and referrals. A clean and sanitized inflatable product can make a difference. Don’t ignore this process.
