Underwater adventures for the whole family in Protaras Cyprus

Become a diver and escape to a different world with new colors, textures and creatures. If you want to learn to dive in a beautiful part of the world, Protaras is the place to do it. Diving is a memorable experience whatever your age. Under the water, Cyprus offers so much natural beauty that you will not stop taking pictures with your camera.

A dive in Green Bay is an ideal dive for both beginners and qualified divers. A sandy walkway at the entrance into a shallow sheltered bay with a depth of 3 meters follows to a maximum depth of 10 meters. Green Bay is very picturesque and ideal for underwater photography with its plethora of rocks, fish and hiding places that attract a wide variety of marine life. You will see a lot of lava rock formations and ravines and some small caves to explore. Ideal for confined water skills.

For the qualified diver, the dive to the Zenobia Wreck is a must when you are in Cyprus. Lying down at depths of 18 to 42 meters is known as some of the best wreck diving in the world and is an experience you will never forget. The Swedish ferry was fully loaded when it sank off the Larnaca fishing port at 2:30 am on Saturday June 7, 1980. Among the wreckage are numerous Volvo, Mercedes and Scanias cars and it is possible to sit in the cabins of some of The trucks

An innovative new attraction in Cyprus is a ride along the bottom of the sea using a shallow water hull. Fun for the whole family, shallow water helmet diving is a safe underwater adventure along pristine, crystal clear waters. Your head stays dry and since there is no snorkel in your mouth, it is a comfortable way to see the exciting underwater rock formations and observe the local marine life. A supply of fresh air is continuously pumped into your helmet. You can even wear your glasses or contact lenses. No swimming ability required, just a bathing suit, a towel, and a bit of adventure.

Another new ‘hit’ among tourists in Cyprus is the BOB dive on an underwater scooter, nicknamed BOB (Breathing Observation Bubble). No diving experience is necessary for this magical underwater journey. The BOB is placed in the water from a boat close to shore and you will be accompanied by a qualified diver at all times. Again, you can wear glasses or contact lenses as your head and shoulders are encapsulated within an air bubble where a constant flow of air allows you to breathe normally. So why not try BOB sailing for your underwater adventure?

There are many PADI recognized diving schools in the Protaras area. Even if you don’t like diving, why not just grab a mask, snorkel and fins to gently admire the marine life from the surface of the beautiful crystal clear waters?
