Who is a better sleeping companion, a dog or a human?

Every time my girlfriend sleeps over, I am forced to lock my dog, Watson, out of his usual sleeping habitat: my bed. Liz (my girlfriend) “claims” that she is allergic to it.

I don’t know for whom this situation is more traumatic: me or Watson?

For Watson, I know it’s devastating. Throughout the night she cries at my door, a horrible high-pitched wail. I can’t stand it. I usually go out and squish his face and give him a treat… It’s my way of bribing him to go away. But it never works. He stays there at my door most of the night.

For me the situation is equally worrying. I have to decide between the two living beings that I love the most in the world: My Dog and my girlfriend! That’s hard!

With Watson, I love the way he snuggles up next to me. She snuggles up into this cute little compact ball. Aside from chewing bones late at night, he’s the perfect bedtime companion.

But sleeping next to my girlfriend also has its advantages. She is an excellent hugger and never chews. However, she can be pushy… She “demands” a massage every time she sleeps over.

So I thought of this puzzle and came up with a solution:

During the week, Watson gets my bed…. During the weekends, it’s my girlfriend’s turn. (my girlfriend goes to school during the week so she works)

So far, all parties appear to be happy with the arrangement. But I will keep you posted: the situation tends to be very volatile. Especially when Watson puts his mouth around one of her $300 shoes.
