What are your dreams and aspirations? Do you have the determination to fight against adversity to reach your ultimate goal? I really hope so, because if you don’t, no one will fight for you. To drive home this point, I want to share a story that Mr. Darren Hardy shared with me at a convention this past weekend. I hope you take something from him like I did. The mightiest army in the empire received the news that a baby was stranded on top of the highest and coolest mountain on earth. Your orders to get out immediately and rescue this baby. The commander assembled a team of his most skilled commandos and generals and set out.
His journey was long and very challenging. They faced all kinds of dangers, from polar bears to the elements, but these warriors kept fighting their way up the mountain until they reached the point where visibility was extremely poor. They couldn’t see their hands in front of their faces; the temperature was minus 20 degrees Fahrenheit and they had no food or water. Going any further would mean certain death. After realizing this, they decided to turn around and return home. There was simply no other way to get up that mountain.
As he was making his way back down the mountain, a soldier turned around and saw someone coming down the mountain behind them. They stopped to see who he was. She was a woman and in her hand was a baby. They were in shock because they couldn’t understand how she could get to the top of the mountain to have this baby. The commanding general asked him, “How could you climb the mountain when we, the mightiest army on earth, couldn’t?”
The woman replied, “It wasn’t your baby.” How powerful is that?
What’s my point here guys? It’s simple; Only you, yourself can save your dreams. Only you have the power, drive, and determination to overcome unimaginable circumstances and see your dreams come true. For those of you who have children, I know for a fact that you will do everything you can to protect them. I know there is nothing I would not do to protect my children. And this is the same mindset I have when it comes to my dreams. You have to develop the mindset of this lady in this story that couldn’t be stopped because her “why” and her “dreams” were too powerful for anyone to understand. Take this in 2011 and see what a difference it makes for you.
Now this is your action step: I want each and every one of you reading this post to leave us your best advice on what you do to stay focused on your goals and dreams. I feel like your suggestion could be the tip that makes all the difference to someone who doesn’t know what to do or what it takes to persevere through obstacles.
