Go green with eco-friendly sports bottles

Medical professionals and health experts always tell us to hydrate and that is to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Most of us are on the go, be it at school or at work and even at home. Most people today are always on the go here and there, so it’s easy for us not to drink the recommended daily amount of water. That’s why most people carry bottles of water with them to quench their thirst even while waiting in line at the bank or supermarket or just sitting in the office. Today, water bottles not only come in trendy designs and cool utility features, but they are also made to be eco-friendly. Eco-friendly sports bottles are becoming more and more popular as they are reliable, durable and eco-friendly compared to plastic water bottles.

One of the most trusted brands in eco-friendly sports bottles is Nalgene. Nalgene is a reasonably priced, made in the USA sports bottle that is always popular with sporty women, as well as office workers and soccer moms. Nalgene has a new line of sports bottles that are BPA free. Among the bottles, the Everyday Wide Mouth Tritan Bottle is the best seller in the line and can hold enough water to keep you hydrated on a coast-to-coast flight or through a full day at the office. The bottle’s mouth is large enough to accommodate ice cubes, and Nalgene sells a variety of accessories, such as a pop-up sports cap. Retail bottles are $11.50.

Another innovative design in sports bottles that are friendly to the environment are the Camelbak Better bottles. These bottles are designed not to spill thanks to their “flip, bite and sip” design, even when the cap is left open. These types of bottles are ideal for situations where there is a lot of movement, such as driving or drinking on the go. The Camelbak is also made from BPA-free plastic and has a sporty design that comes with a bottle cap loop that can be attached to a backpack with a carabiner. Consumers can choose from colors and patterns, such as diamonds and buck teeth, for a more urban feel. This bottle retails for $11 to $15 depending on its liter.

Some companies have taken the humble sports bottle to a whole new level by incorporating modern designs and cool extra features, and the Sigg Traveler takes the crown. Sigg, is considered hip as it is the popular choice among celebrities and eco-stars like the Dave Matthews Band. Sigg is from a Swiss company and has been in the business of making lightweight recycled aluminum bottles for a hundred years. The Sigg is lightweight and has a coating that prevents the aluminum from segregating the contents. Right up to its name, the Sigg Traveler is super trendy and lightweight and comes in two sizes and a variety of colors. Designs range from classic to simple steel. Unlike Nalgene’s Tritan wide mouth, the Sigg Traveler has a small opening that won’t fit ice cubes, but is great for hot drinks since the sports bottle is made of metal. Sigg offers a carry bag and even a new Sigg for hot drinks, as well as a specially designed cleaning brush and tablets for cleaning. The retail price is $21.99 (0.6 liters); $24.99 (1 liter).
