Some Easy Diets Work, Most Don’t

We all want to find an easy diet that will help us slip into our favorite pair of jeans quickly. Be sure to take into account the health aspects of the easy diets out there. Easy diets are extremely popular partly because of the name; Easy.

Let’s face it, most people are looking for a quick and easy solution. We are insatiable. We don’t want to work hard on our weight loss. We all want the quick fix.

If you think that you don’t need protein, fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates or fat in your diet, you are sorely mistaken. Our bodies need to have good carbohydrates and good fats. We also need to consume fruits and vegetables daily that, yes, will contain a certain amount of natural sugars. Most importantly, our bodies also need to have a certain amount of protein in our daily diet.

Protein is by far the most important staple food group our bodies need to survive. You would be surprised to know that it is the only food that our bodies burn easily and quickly. Depending on your age, your height, your weight and the amount of exercise you do will determine the amount of protein your body needs. You need to find a balance between what is good for you and what is not so good for you. If you don’t get the necessary amount of protein your body requires, your muscles will eventually start to break down. By eating the right foods each day and consuming the right amount of protein for your body, you’ll build stronger muscles and notice less sagging skin.

It is vitally important to have some good fats in your diet. For various reasons, our bodies cannot produce the necessary fatty acids, so it is vital for your health to have them in your diet. Try to remember that the fats in your diet are important to your well-being and that the fats in your food should be of the highest quality possible.

Eating fruits and vegetables is especially important as they are full of vitamins and minerals that help keep you healthy and possibly disease-free.

Complex carbohydrates are much better for us than simple carbohydrates. Complex carbohydrates take longer to digest than simple carbohydrates. The slow absorption of sugars from complex carbohydrates gives you a slow supply of energy that lasts longer and slows down the supply of sugar converted to fat and stored in your body.

Don’t be fooled into thinking that by eliminating certain food groups you will lose weight AND be healthy. Yes, you will lose weight on those easy diets, and in some cases, you will lose weight very quickly. However, you may not be healthy. Easy fad diets can wreak havoc on your organs and can sometimes cause you lasting health problems. You will also notice that when you lose the weight you want and then start eating normally again, your weight will come back very quickly. Most people find that they gain more weight than they originally started before their fad diet. It is a vicious circle and we all fall into its trap. You are not alone. There are some easy diets that work and others that can be dangerous.
