The Bahamas: Why you should vacation here

The Bahamas, a group of more than 2,000 cays and 700 islands, is a great tourist destination for its beautiful beaches. Grand Bahama, Paradise Island, New Providence Island and the capital city Nassau are the places that welcome the largest number of vacationers. For individuals or families looking for a relaxing vacation, they can visit various outer islands such as Andros and Exuma.

Here are several tourist spots that you might want to visit during your stay on the beautiful island of the Bahamas:

outdoor aquarium

Along with the beaches and water slides, the Outdoor Aquarium at Atlantis Resort has a 34-acre marine environment whose 11 pools and lagoons are home to 200 marine species. Sharks and other marine animals glide over you while you watch other marine life. Exhibits feature green eels, majestic lionfish, balloon jellyfish, elusive lobsters, dozens of piranhas, and giant groupers. Plus, kids can touch sea urchins, conch shells, and starfish in the touch tanks.

Beaches

Paradise Island has two exceptional beaches. These are Paradise Beach and Cabbage Beach. Paradise Beach is a good beach, but it is often difficult to access, especially for non-hotel guests of the Atlantis Resort. For one, Cabbage Beach has a two-mile stretch that’s dotted with casuarina trees, coconut palms, and sea grapes. Grand Bahama Island has two beautiful sands. These include Lucaya Beach and Xanadu Beach.

Diving and Snorkeling

Andros Island covers the third largest barrier reef in the world. This barrier reef bubbles with over 100 miles of fish-abundant coral formations. Divers and snorkelers are drawn to Central Park with its massive stands of elkhorn coral. This particular coral can grow in the water to a length of 15 feet. Also, divers can explore several blue holes at this location with a depth of 100 feet. If you feel like diving, you can check out several snorkeling programs in the area. These programs offer various diving expeditions, as well as snorkeling trips.

dolphin encounters

Dolphin Encounters, a three-mile trip from Nassau to Blue Lagoon Island, is the best place to encounter several endearing bottlenose dolphins. At Dolphin Encounters, you can kiss these lovely mammals in shallow water, swim with them, or view them from the boardwalk. UNEXSO (Underwater Explorer Society) presents the same program on the Grand Bahama Island. However, an age limit of 16 years or older is required to play with dolphins in the open water.
