One of the most misunderstood ‘houses’ when looking at any chart because it contains the essence of radical and fundamental change, what scares most people. Called one of the terminal houses (along with the 4th and 12th) for when the Sun (and it enters this house once a year) or any transiting planet enters this house/sector the changes that are necessary (or need be faced) are experienced, supported and experienced, all that is necessary to grow.
Keep a thought in mind when looking at this house: “God (or the Universe) gives you only those ‘burdens’ that you are capable of carrying, not an ounce less and not an ounce more.” The sign on the cusp or any aspect of this house will indicate your response and survivability. When looking in any birth chart, look to this house for hidden talents, along with the support you will receive from others, be it emotional, financial, or moral. Transiting planets entering or leaving this ‘house’ will bring radical and fundamental changes in one’s life, look them up.
I like to see the houses of astrology as actual ‘places’ and the ‘visitors’ (the planets) that come to visit. Some are welcome, some are not, some stay only for a short period, others for longer. When was the last time someone came to stay at your house asking for a bed for the night and staying for months? When the Sun visits you each year, it wants you to change in some way; when the planet Mercury enters, it asks you to change your way of thinking. When Venus enters, it asks you to change your values a bit. all the planets (visitors) create your own theme. I’ll go into more detail in another article, for now take a look at your chart or build one from a simple 12 section circle (like a pizza) by placing your sun sign at the 9pm position and then back again. clockwise the other signs until you have all 12 slices of your pizza. The 8 sign is where you should look for anything you pass through or visit.
This house has some keywords and they are: Death: Rebirth: The Occult: Secrets: Sex: Crisis and Intimacy, all of which can scare us or stimulate us to action. Psychology and psychiatry are shown here along with psychic ability or interest. Death and taxes along with inheritances, legacies and wills are shown along with their ‘partners’ money (this being the 2nd house of the 7th house). This house also indicates surgery along with any probable cause of death or regeneration. A few examples: These are given as a guide only for when I look at my own chart. Aries: Prone to disorders of the brain, accidents or violent endings, fevers and cerebral thrombosis.
Taurus: Heart attacks, throat cancer, tumors, sinus problems. Complications during surgery can also lead to death or injury!
Gemini: Lung problems, bronchitis and poisoning (as a result of incorrect medication).
Cancer: Diseases of the breast, stomach, pancreas along with malignant growths! Drowning, Food Poisoning and Sleepwalking – Putting Life in Danger!
Lion: Coronary thrombosis, angina, meningitis, spinal difficulties. Heart attacks, aneurysms and blood disorders.
Virgo: Intestinal difficulties, complications of the duodenum and spleen. Danger of industrial or work-related diseases.
Pound: Kidney problems, urinary tract infections. The loss of a partner may indicate the relinquishment of the will to live, suicide?
Scorpion: Hernia, appendicitis, hemorrhoids, sexually transmitted diseases.
Sagittarius: Tumors, growths, abscesses, accidents (sports).
Capricorn: Chronic ailments, senile decay, childhood diseases = measles, mumps, etc. leaving their mark in adulthood.
Aquarium: Blood poisoning, pernicious anemia together with dropsy. Aquarius here can indicate a hole in the heart (in children) and an electrocution hazard (shock treatment).
Pisces: May indicate premature death (as a result of abuse, drugs, alcohol, etc.) Glandular disorders, fluid in the lungs, and drug dependency.
The 8th house is one of the most complex and scary yet, we all have an 8th house so explore the above and don’t be afraid to go as deep as you can into the cusp sign, it is the rule in the chart. and any aspect of this house.
