Most pet owners have been faced at one point or another with the elimination of pet urine. Of all pets, cat urine is perhaps one of the most difficult to eliminate. Once you find the source of the odor, you’ll want to press down on the spot with paper towels to remove it. If the stain is no longer wet, re-wet it before you begin. Blotting the site repeatedly should begin to remove the urine. Next, you’ll want to apply a mixture of vinegar and water. Using two parts warm water to one part white vinegar is the preferred mix for cat urine removal. Use this to scrub the area. If the stain is on the carpet, you’ll want to continue using a little bit of clean water to clean the area, and then put a good amount of baking soda on the stain. Using a brush, you should work the area with the baking soda and let it sit overnight before vacuuming.
This is just one technique for the removal of cat urine. There are also a number of over-the-counter products you can buy to help with this problem. Remember that the cat’s urine must be removed completely to ensure that the cat does not urinate in the same place again.
