Pheromones – Myth or reality – Do pheromones work?

I did a quick internet search for pheromones.

Pheromones are chemicals released by an organism into its environment that allow it to communicate with others of its own kind. There are many different types that I learned early on.

insect pheromones

alarm pheromone

When an ant is disturbed, it releases a pheromone that other ants can detect from several inches away. They are attracted by low concentrations of the pheromone and begin to move towards the region of increasing concentration. As they approach their disturbed ant which releases an alarm pheromone, their response changes to one of emergency and alarm. They run back and forth to try to break up the ruckus that caused the alarm.

Unless additional amounts of the alarm pheromone are released, it soon wears off. This ensures that once the emergency is over, the ants return to their activities.
Honey bees also have an alarm pheromone, so if you get stung near a hive, you can expect more bee stings very soon if you’re not careful.

Leaving a trail of pheromones

Hands leave a pheromone trail as they move once they have found food. This trail attracts and tells other ants where to go to find food. It is continually renewed for the duration of the meal. When the supply begins to dwindle, The Trail Pheromone ceases to exist. The trail pheromone quickly evaporates so that other ants stop coming to the site and are not confused with the old trails when they find food elsewhere.

sex pheromones

Hundreds of pheromones are known with which one sex (usually the female) of a species of insect attracts its mates. Many of these sexual attractants, or their close chemical relatives, are commercially available. They have proven to be useful weapons against insect pests, as they can be used to lure insects into a trap and confuse males from reproducing. There are spiders that produce a moth sex pheromone to help catch their prey. Many animals, such as dogs, will mark their territory by urinating. The scent of pheromones is said to be one of the territory markers.

Pheromones for humans.

There are claims like getting MASSIVE sexual chemistry on demand!

Instantly arouse, attract, arouse, intrigue and seduce beautiful women whenever, wherever, as often as you want… anytime you’re in the mood.

If you would like…

o Being much more sexually attractive.

o Meet more beautiful women, MUCH easier.

o Be noticed and approached by women much more often.

o Leave a fantastic, memorable and captivating impression every time.

o Boost your self-confidence and masculinity in a BIG way…then this may be the most important news you’ll read all year.

And other claims that are just as outrageous on the internet. Human beings do not produce large amounts of natural pheromones. It has been observed that women who live together for a while tend to synchronize their cycles. It has been written that this is for a priming pheromone that women release.

If you’re looking for the man or woman of your dreams, chances are the unsuspecting pheromones in your body scent play an important and highly intelligent role in attracting a mate. According to an article in “Psychology Today,” how our body odors are perceived as pleasant and sexy to another person is a highly selective process. We usually smell better of a person whose genetic immunity to disease differs more from our own. This could benefit you in the long run by creating stronger, healthier children. I once saw a show on The Discovery Channel about sexuality. They had a contest with a male and 5 females who had very different immune systems. Females with similar immune systems to males had a more offensive odor than females with very different immune systems. I would imagine this is due to the different pheromones. However, pheromones are naturally produced by our human bodies. There has not been any research on pheromones produced in a laboratory.

Dating and Pheromones

What if we wanted women to be slightly attracted to pheromones produced in a laboratory? If you go to a club after bathing in these pheromones, how is a woman going to be attracted to you? You’re giving off a scent that will (supposedly) turn any girl who smells it on. Well, and the couple that dances next to you? In theory, that girl is getting turned on, but who’s to say that she’s getting turned on by you? She’s getting turned on by the loser she’s dancing with (that this loser didn’t pay anything for the pheromones)

So assuming they work, they would only benefit you in individual situations.

The fact is that no research mentions synthetic pheromones. The companies that sell products are synthetic pheromones. Do these work? Who knows, there are much more reliable ways to gain attraction than a scent. I want someone to be attracted to me. It’s not a pheromone I’m using. How is it going to feel when you’re not wearing it? Also, what is the effect of a woman being exposed to the same pheromone all the time? Wouldn’t it cause her to get used to that smell and therefore no longer react to it?

My suggestion is to look for other ways to attract someone who can produce consistent results without being dependent on any product.
